Description
Psittacus Mini Hand-Feeding Formula 5Kg is a follow-on hand-feeding formula ideal for hand-rearing small-sized parrot species from the moment when the first neonatal phase finishes. For instance, in Cockatiels this would be when the bird is two weeks old.
It is specially designed for species of the genera Melopsittacus, Nymphicus, Agapornis, Neophema, Eolophus.
Daily intake ranges between 7ml – 10ml of formula per 100g of body weight during each feeding session. The number of feeding sessions per day depends on the parrot’s age and species.
Its use is recommended until the chicks have fledged. During weaning phase, it should be gradually replaced with dry adult food.
For younger birds under a week old we recommend Psittacine Crop Milk (listed separately) initially, and then a mix of both formulas until ringing.

Hand-Feeding Formulas
Hand-feeding formulas are ideal for hand-rearing baby parrots and hand-feeding convalescent adult birds following illness or medical treatment. These hand-feeding formulas have been formulated to constitute 100% of the diet of a parrot chick during the entire growth period: from birth to fledging. At weaning phase this food can be gradually replaced by the most suitable formula for the species.
On average, medium and large-sized parrots consume from 7ml – 10ml of hand-feeding formula per 100g of body weight. Small parrots have a higher intake, up to 16ml per 100g body weight.
The recommended concentration of the formula when prepared is between 20% – 25% – a texture similar to yoghurt.
In order to prepare the formula, use warm water at a temperature between 37C – 39C. Avoid using the microwave.
We recommend administering the formula using a soft tube.
Feeding Recommendations For Hand Feeding Formulas
