Description

Columbae Pigeon Granivorous Handfeeding 1kg is suitable for hand-rearing granivorous pigeons, including all the domestic pigeon’s species (Columba livia domestica), from the first week of life until weaning.

Granivorous Pigeon Hand Feeding is a complete food and therefore it provides all the necessary nutrients for the pigeons to enjoy optimal health, excellent vigour and excellent plumage quality.

FEEDING RECOMMENDATIONS

It is advisable to confirm that the crop is empty in the morning.

For younger chicks, use the first-age hand-feeding formula Pigeon Crop Milk for granivorous pigeons.

For chicks being reared from an early age, the gradual transition from the Pigeon Crop Milk to the Granivorous Pigeon Hand Feeding should begin at 4 days of age.  From day 10 of life, Granivorous Pigeon Hand Feeding must constitute 100% of the chick’s diet until emancipation.

At weaning the hand feeding formula should be gradually replaced by Columbae Racking Pigeon Junior for 6 months.

Make sure the birds have Silex Grit available at all times to meet the mechanical needs of the digestive tract.  After each feeding bout, the leftover formula should be discarded.

Once the package is opened, store it in the original bag properly sealed or in an air-tight container, in a cool, dry place.

While refrigeration is not advisable, freezing is possible if the package is hermetically sealed.

COLUMBAE PIGEON GRANIVOROUS HANDFEEDING 1KG PREPARATION

It should be prepared by adding lukewarm water between 37-39 degrees centigrade to the powdered formula until reaching a concentration of 20-25%.  Mix it using a whisk.  The final texture should have the consistency of a shaken yoghurt.

DAILY INTAKE

The daily consumption ranges between 55 and 80% of the chick’s body weight divided in 3-4 feeding bouts.  The amount of feedings per day depends on the age of each bird.  In each feeding the chicks should be offered the formula until they are satiated and stop begging.
