Description
Live Waxworms for Cage and Aviary Birds has been a favourite food source amongst bird keepers for many years as the waxworm’s colour and soft skin make them appealing to insectivorous birds, providing an all year round food source but especially during the breeding season. Live Waxworm’s soft skin makes them easily digestible for young chicks and their excellent nutritional content provides them with the goodness the chicks need to thrive.
British Bird lovers have also found that waxworms attract wild birds to their gardens, again, especially during the breeding season, but also provide essential nutrients for non-migratory birds during the Winter months when food sources are depleted/scarce as the waxworms have a high moisture content and are rich in protein and fat.
Live Waxworm Care:
Live Waxworms should be stored in the well-ventilated container they are delivered in and any condensation on the inside of the container should be wiped away immediately as this can reduce the life span of the waxworms. They should be stored in low humidity at temperatures between 55F and 65F away from direct sunlight. If they appear lifeless when they arrive, please warm them up gradually, however, do not keep Live Waxworms in too warm conditions or they will pupate and turn into moths.
